The homelab uses Proxmox snapshots as the primary recovery mechanism before major infrastructure changes.

Snapshot Strategy
Snapshots are created before:
- New service deployments

Snapshot Management
The Proxmox snapshot interface provides a simple method for managing recovery points.

Using descriptive snapshot names makes it easier to identify stable recovery points during troubleshooting or recovery operations.
Recovery Process
If a deployment fails, the following process is used:
- Stop additional configuration changes.
- Identify the last known working snapshot.
- Restore the snapshot.
- Verify system functionality.
- Review the failed deployment.
- Reattempt the deployment if necessary.
This process significantly reduces downtime and simplifies troubleshooting.
Documentation as Backup
Technical documentation is also treated as a recovery mechanism.
